Eigentlich sollte erst nächste Woche jeder das neue Tablet zu Gesicht bekommen von Acer, aber anscheinend will man die Leute noch neugieriger machen, weshalb es schon kurz in den Vereinigten Emiraten auf einer Konferenz kurz gezeigt wurde.

Leider durfte man es nur von weitem betrachten, da es Acer Chef Gianfranco Lanci nicht aus den Händen gegeben hat. Immerhin wissen wir jetzt aber das es eine Hardware Tastatur am unteren Ende hat und mit einem 7 Zoll Touchscreen ausgestattet ist. Bis aus die Tatsache das es mit Android OS bestückt ausgeliefert wird, ähnelt also sehr dem Amazon Kindle.

Leider soll es erst im vierten Quartal in den Handel kommen und das auch noch wahrscheinlich über einen Mobilfunkbetreiber, da das als logischer Weg von Lanci gesehen wird. Das heist dann wohl auch das ein UMTS Modem eingebaut sein wird und man nicht ohne monatliche Kosten sein Tablet benutzten können wird.

*UPDATE* Es gibt ein neues Bild und wir wissen jetzt mehr über die Technischen Daten. Es scheint so das das Tablet doch nur sechs Zoll aufweisen kann und es sich nur um ein E-Ink Display handelt. Acer möchte also hauptsächlich Bücher und MP3 Dateien auf dem LumiReader sehen. Es handelt sich hier also nicht um ein echtes Tablet Gerät. Dafür haben die Chinesen bereits mit Libri.de einen Vertrag abgeschlossen der uns unzählige Bücher bereit stellen wird. 2GB interner Speicher sollten für ca. 1000 Bücher genügen laut Acer. Per MicroSD kann man es aber erweitern um noch mehr Dateien drauf zu speichern.

Ich finde es schade das es sich nicht um ein echtes Tablet handelt und das wir den Preis auch noch nicht erfahren werden. Vielleicht überrascht uns Acer aber doch noch nächste Woche mit etwas neuem. Nach dem Cut findet ihr noch die komplette Pressemeldung auf englisch.
